A little history of the area…
Perth, our home, but more specifically the iconic Swan River or known as Derbarl Yerrigan to its Aboriginal inhabitants, was named by its Dutch explorer Willem de Vlamingh in 1697 after the beautiful black swans who called the area home. Today, the Swan River is home to many animals including dolphins, a variety a beautiful birds including the rainbow lorikeet, Australian pelican and of course, the Black Swan.
The river plays a massive part in Perth’s culture housing many water
sports such as rowing, sailing and swimming. Due to its wide variety of fish species, fisherman flock like sea gulls to the Swan River everyday to catch the freshest of produce to sell and the local seafood market, where Mill Point gets there ingredients for our delicious seafood meals.
